U.S. Olympic skating team is killed in a plane crash in Belgium.

February 15, 1961

Everyone on board Sabena Flight 545 crashes approaching Zaventem Airport in Brussels.  Seven were members from the Skating Club of Boston, including coach Maribel Vinson Owen of Winchester, and her two daughters, Maribel, 21, a student at Boston University, and Laurence, 16; and Bradley Lord of Swampscott and Boston University; and Dudley Richardson, the former Harvard College roommate of Edward Kennedy.  A similar tragedy occurs in  2025,*
